1/20/16: Summary of Mid-Season State Rules Interpretation Meeting
The following is a summary of the midseason state rules interpretation meeting of 1/17:
- Rolled shorts that show tags and/or logos or expose draw strings are not acceptable. If there are no tags and/or logos, they're ok. Treat rolled shorts as if they were shirts not tucked in. Have players roll them twice to eliminate tags or logos. Be flexible if the player is 80 pounds and the shorts are too big.
- Compression shorts cannot extend below the knee. Tights must extend to below the calf.
- Be consistent with contact with the ballhandler/dribbler. This is not an advantage disadvantage situation and must be called.
- JV officials should not call technical fouls on varsity players who are on the floor during JV halftime and are dunking. Have them removed from the floor.
- All officials (R, U1 and U2) need to be at the pregame coaches/captains meeting and standing so that they can glance at teams warming up.
- If a player is sent off due to concussion concerns and returns to the game, the onus is on the coach and school. Don't get involved with any paperwork.
- "Any contact with an official by a player or coach, there better be an ejection." Pat Gebhart
- When completing ejection forms, be brief, be accurate, and be objective. Do not include opinions.
- A midseason bulletin will be available this week.
